Canada Digital Adoption
Program (CDAP)

Access up to $15,000 in a non-repayable grant from the Canadian government to give your business a digital edge.

What is CDAP?

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is offering $4 billion in total funding to help small to medium-sized businesses embrace digital transformation. Successful applicants can access up to $15,000 in a non-repayable grant to retain ALTA Consulting’s assessment and advisory services and offset the costs of planning their transformation journey.

Amount of Funding

This stream offers grants that will cover up to 90% of eligible costs for up to $15,000 to organize and implement a digital adoption initiative for small and medium sized enterprises.

Your business is eligible if it:

Has been incorporated federally or provincially, or the sole proprietor is a Canadian resident

Is a for-profit business that is privately owned

Maintains 1–499

full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Has a minimum of $500,000 in annual revenues in one of the previous three tax years

Further financial support

1. BDC Loan

Successful Applicants that have received notification of payment for the grant can also apply for a BDC zero interest loan for up to $100,000. Applicants can use the loan amount to fund the initiatives and purchases of technology services and products highlighted in their Digital Adoption Plan.

2. Youth Placements

Applicants that have received funding confirmation for the grant are eligible to apply for a subsidized youth placement. The youth placement subsidy will be up to $7,300 and will be paid as reimbursement upon production of proof of wage payment.

    You are not eligible for the Grant if you are: Non-profitable organization Real estate broker Multi-level marketing company A Corporate chain, a registered charity, or a franchise
  • What are the steps to apply for the Grant?

  • What documents are required to create my profile?
    The information required to create your account will be: Username User email address Business Number Legal name of the business Operating name of the business Canadian address of the applicant's business
  • How can I use the grant?
    Eligible costs are limited to those involved with creating your Digital Adoption Plan, including: Advisor fees, commissions, and charges associated with creating your Digital Adoption Plan Applicable federal and provincial sales taxes are associated with fees charged by the advisor.
  • Can ALTA Consulting submit my Grant application?
    We will guide you through the process of application and answer any questions you have. However, you must apply directly to the Grant, ALTA will help you to review your application and provide feedback to maximize your likelihood of success.
  • What types of costs are NOT covered by CDAP?
    Any activities not directly related to developing and producing a Digital Adoption Plan by the organizations registered on the Digital Advisor Marketplace. To consult the complete list of ineligible costs, click here.
  • How do I access funds?
    The Government of Canada will reimburse you for up to 90 percent of eligible expenses, up to $15,000. Once we complete your digital adoption plan, you will submit a copy of the plan along with the relevant invoices to receive your grant payment.
  • How long it will take the development of my Digital Adoption Plan?
    The entire process from the introductory call with us, to the delivery of your Digital Adoption Plan, will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks. During this time you will go through the ALTA Consulting discovery process, and we will work side by side to build your Digital Adoption Plan. We use a four-step approach: Discover - Analyze - Recommend - Execution Planning.
  • What happens after I obtain my Digital Adoption Plan?
    Your Digital Adoption Plan will contain detailed growth initiatives that will help your business to embrace your digital transformation, as well as an execution roadmap to start working together on your transformation journey. You can commence execution of the initiatives right away and can apply for a no-interest BDC loan of up to $100,000 to support technology adoption initiatives outlined in your Digital Adoption Plan.
  • If I am the owner of other companies, Can I apply for multiple grants?
    Yes. If each of them meets the eligible criteria, you can apply individually.
  • What happens if I already have a Digital Adoption Plan?
    You could use the CDAP fast-track option to get a loan directly from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) or funded work placement to help implement your plan. You may be eligible if you have a plan, created within the last 24 months, from one of the programs below: Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency: Digital Acceleration Pilot BDC Advisory Services Digital Acceleration Fund (Prince Edward Island) Digital Boost 2.0 (New Brunswick) Programme Audit Industrie 4.0 / ESSOR - Volet 1B (Quebec – website in French)
  • I want to know more about the BDC zero-interest loan:
    You're eligible if you have completed a Digital Adoption Plan as part of CDAP and have received your grant OR under another recognized Digital Adoption program and submitted it to CDAP If you're ready to move forward on your digital adoption plan but you don’t have the necessary cash flow, BDC can help with a 0% interest loan of up to $100,000.   • What initiatives can be paid for using the BDC loan?
    Acquiring IT equipment Installation of new technologies Updating and/or expanding IT equipment Training staff on onboarded technologies Materials and support services directly related to onboarding the technology Further advisory services on particular aspects of the digital adoption plan
  • How do I apply for the BDC loan?
    The loan is only available upon completion of an approved digital adoption plan, which means that you need to have your Digital Adoption Plan (Follow the CDAP process), Once your plan is approved, use the personalized link in your email to apply for a loan of up to $100,0001.
  • What is the loan amount I can apply for?
    The amount of the loan is determined by the size of your business. If your annual gross revenues are: Business revenues of $500,000 to $5 million: loans between $25,000 and $50,000 Business revenues over $5 million: loans between $25,000 and $100,000
  • What are the loan terms?
    The loan has a 5-year term with a 12-month capital postponement (a total of 6 years). There are no fees. You have 1 year from the completion of your approved plan to make a loan request. You must meet BDC credit worthiness requirements. The loan must be used solely to implement a Digital Adoption Plan recognized by the CDAP Boost Your Business Technology stream.
